This is one of those movies that I will probably never watch again because it is too real, not because it is vile and exploitative. I mostly turn to this medium as an escape from this world, and yet here I was being shown the worst this world has to offer in unflinching widescreen. I felt horrible for, in a way, being "present" for the act yet helpless to do anything about it. As for her revenge, the movie's tagline was certainly correct. It didn't shy away from showing how horrible an experience rape is or how evil rape/rapists are, and as difficult as the scenes were to watch I can't imagine anyone perpetrating the acts in real life. It certainly didn't glorify or revel in sexual violence like some detractors had implied. On the other hand, I can't say it was a bad film. As tough as it was to watch, I doubt I'll ever see it again.

In short, it was a brutal film that left me unsure of how to describe it. He wasn't his usual jocular self (and it would have been inappropriate if that were his tone), but just having the track there to dissect some of the film made the tougher scenes bearable.
It had a commentary track by Joe Bob Briggs and, if I'm honest, I wouldn't have been able to make it through the film without him. So, I just watched this movie for the first time last night.
